Duplicate Page Finder

Find exact and near-duplicate pages in one PDF or across several - double-fed scans, repeated pages in merged bundles - and remove or report them.

Every page is fingerprinted - its content, its text and a small image of how it looks - and compared with the others: exact copies, pages with the same text, pages that look the same, and near-duplicates above a similarity you choose. Headers, footers and page numbers, scanner margins and blank pages can be left out, so pages that differ only by "Page 7" still match and blank sheets don't.

Duplicates are shown in groups with a proposed keeper. Change the keeper rule, keep or remove any page by hand, and compare two pages side by side with their differences highlighted. Then remove the duplicates - bookmarks and links follow the page that stays - or just download a report.

Simple workflow

How it works

  1. 1

    Add PDFs

Add one PDF, or several to find pages repeated across them.

  2. 2

    Review the groups

Check each group of duplicates and its keeper, adjust the similarity, and keep or remove pages by hand.

  3. 3

    Remove duplicates

Download the cleaned PDFs - or just the duplicates report.

Frequently asked questions

Two copies of a page differ only by the page number - will they match?

Yes, with "Ignore headers, footers and page numbers" on (the default). For pages that differ only in dates or amounts, also turn on "Ignore numbers".

Which copy of a duplicate is kept?

The first one by default. You can keep the last, the best quality (a page with a text layer or the sharpest scan), the one from a file you choose - or pick by hand. Pages with annotations, form fields or signatures are never removed unless you turn that protection off.

The same form filled in twice is flagged as a duplicate - why?

Filled-in forms often share the page itself and differ only in their fields. Keep "Treat filled-in forms as different" on, and pages whose field values differ are never grouped.
